Faro International Airport is located 4 km from the city of Faro.
The airport is in a process of expansion which is divided into two phases:
Phase 1 - proceeded to the expansion and refurbishment of operational areas, creating more parking spaces for aircraft, taxiways and installation of the ILS (Instrument Landing System) on runway 10.
Phase 2 - Expansion and remodeling of the terminal building, including the restructuring of airport accesses.
The purpose of these contracts is to increase the number of movements from 22 to 30 perhour, creating 11 new parking spaces for aircraft with capacity for the new wide-body aircraft (such as 747), and an expansion of the current capacity processing 2,400 to 3,000 passengers per hour. Altogether provides an increase of airport capacity from 6 million to 8 million passengers / year (currently the capacity is approximately 5.5 million).

Phase 2 – Detailed Design Review for Restoring the Airport Functionality and the Infrastructure Conditions of the Terminal in compliance with the Regulatory Requirements in Force – Civil Construction and Technical Installations, including architectural design, Structures, Electrical Installations, Special Installations, Water Installations for Fire Service, Pluvial Drainage, Gas Installations, Installations of HVAC, Security Installations, Signaling, Phasing and Affected Services
