The Management Plan of Santa Clara Reservoir was aimed at defining the model of occupation of its area of intervention (water plan and the protection zone, which corresponds to a range of 500 meters measured from the full storage level - NPA ) in order to disciplin, protect, develop and harmonize a set of activities related to leisure, recreation and tourism, safeguarding the environmental balance and the primary use, in which case this reservoir is the water supply for irrigation and urban supply.
The reservoir of Santa Clara was created by a dam built on the river Mira, near Santa Clara-a-Velha, dominating a watershed with 523 km2, in the Mira river basin.
The total capacity of the reservoir is 485 hm3 and the NPA the flooded area is 1986 ha.

Biophysical and landscape stabilization of the banks of the Santa Clara Reservoir, defining a structure that is capable of supporting existing and planned requests, namely recreational and environmental education functions .
Territory planning and the definition of vocations and preferential uses, both in the water plan and in the direct surroundings of the Santa Clara Reservoir (banks up to a width of 500 m) in order to guarantee the preservation/enhancement of the natural and humanized systems present in the space in question.
