The interventions contemplated by the solution to be implemented were the following (6.5 km):

  • Connection of the RN-1 road, which currently gives access to Algiers from the southwest, with the 2nd Algiers Ring Motorway through a dual carriageway and three lanes per carriageway, maintaining the access and exit of Algiers;
  • In order to maintain current access to Algiers via the RN-1 and maintain the planned continuity of the 2nd Algiers Ring Motorway to Boudouaou and Zeralda, the construction of three branches with a single carriageway with 3 lanes was planned, allowing to achieve that goal;
  • Restructuring of the Interchange (Interchange 1) that currently gives access to Birtouta from the south side.

The implementation of these interventions required the creation of 5 new structures: three overpasses over the junction between the RN-1 and the Ring Motorway, two underpasses and several hydraulic works.
