Railway Line between El Affroun and Khemis Miliana (55 km)

Final Designs of 13 railway viaducts related to the duplication of the railway track with rectification of the track alignment between the stations of El Affroun - Khemis Miliana (55 km) of the Algiers/Oran Line, in Algeria.

It is a ballasted double-track, of mixed traffic, for passengers and goods transportation, with project speeds of 160 km/h and 100 km/h respectively, over an extension of 55 km, integrating several viaducts and tunnels.

The 13 special engineering structures have widths of 8.8, 12.8 and 13.3 m and lengths ranging between 27 m and 568 m.

As a main solution, a design of decks with isostatic spans was adopted, composed of prefabricated beams, pre-stressed by post-tensioning, with a 37m span, in order to minimize the use of expansion devices.
