Machico Fórum and Cultural Centre

The contract work consisted on the construction of a building with three bodies and a large adjacent square, incorporating a multipurpose auditorium with a capacity of 503 seats (220 seats on telescopic bench), exhibition halls, two theaters, restaurant and bar, a library, shopping areas, and the necessary infrastructure to support users premises for the cultural activity and an underground car parking with a capacity for approximately 106 cars. 

It included the special instalations such as hydraulical, electrical, telecommunications, integrated security, AVAC, centralized technical management, the mechanical means of lifting and architecture scene.

Parameters / Technical Data:

• Total construction area of approximately 8.000 m;
• Foundations on mat foundation with variable thickness between 0.70 m and 1.0 m; 
• Framed superstructured on reinforced concrete, including several elements in steel, emphasizing the assembly of beams with 17 foot span;
• Peripherical containment using a curtain poles anchored in shotcrete with a extention of 200 m long;
• Canalization of the existing channel under the building, through a concrete gallery.
