Cerro da Mina Reservoir and Complementary Works

The works, located in Cerro do Lobo Waste Landfill zone, about 4 km from SOMINCOR's industrial facilities, included the following infrastructures:

• Cerro da Mina Reservoir (CMR) - consisting of a riprap embankment, with a maximum height of 28.20 m above the foundation, 629 m crest length and 407 700 m³ volume of landfill, built with materials from the excavation . It has the following security elements: a flood spillway and a bottom outlet. It is used to storage residual water from the industrial process, with a storage volume of 1,200,000 m³;
• Sludge Retention Basin (Emergency Reservoir R1) – built through an excavation with 4 meters of maximum height and 1615 m³ of volume;
• Rainwater Diversion Channel – with a total length of 775 m. It also includes an intermediate reservoir, a stilling basin and an energy dissipation basin;
• Partition embankment of Monte Branco reservoir - consisting of an homogeneous landfill, with a maximum height of 7 m above the foundation, 160 m of crest development and 10 026 m³ of landfill volume.
