The Strategic Plan for the Use and Development of the Lúrio River Basin was developed within the scope of the National Project for the Development of Water Resources in Mozambique.
With an intervention area of 61,200 km2, the study aims to define the sustainable social, economic and environmental development strategy of Lúrio River basin, where the component of technicians’ capacity building and training, who in the future will be responsible for the implementation and plan management, is particularly relevant.
The Plan includes:
- Monograph of the Lúrio River Basin;
- Water Development Scenarios for Lúrio River Basin;
- Strategic Investment Plan involving the Development of Water Infrastructure and the Management of Water Resources Development Capacity;
- Integrated Water Resources Management and Development Strategy, that guides the implementation of the Strategic Investment Plan;
- Geographic Information System.
