The Faveta hydro-agricultural scheme is located on the island of Santiago, in the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo, Cape Verde.
This development, with an equipped area of around 80 hectares, is benefited by a hydraulic system originating from the Faveta dam, built on the stream of the same name.
The irrigation network implementation project prepared by TPF Consultores focused on 62 ha, belonging to the Faveta - Mato Forte and Cacheu Blocks.
The two projected blocks comprise 62 buildings, broken down as follows:
Faveta-Mato Forte: 19 hectares and 42 buildings;
Cacheu: 33 hectares and 20 buildings.
The water stored in the reservoir is fed to irrigate the blocks.
The Faveta - Mato Forte block is fed by the HDPE DN 225 pipeline, in which two derivations will be executed for the irrigation networks. The irrigation networks of the Cacheu block originate from the 1 000 m3 reservoir built in the Cacheu area.
The scheme is served by a collective network of 5 235 metres of HDPE pipes with varying diameters between DN 75 mm and DN 400 mm.
The water is supplied to farmers under pressure and previously filtered through sand filters, which guarantee a degree of cleanliness suitable for localised irrigation.
