Green and Yellow Lines Connection - Lisbon Metro Circular Line

The extension of the Rato - Cais do Sodré Yellow Line aims to better serve the southern part of the network and of Lisbon. It extends in a N-S corridor, connecting Marquês de Pombal and the Riverside area of Lisbon at Cais do Sodré from the Yellow Line Rato Terminal.

This extension will be in double track tunnel, with a length of 1984m. It will have 2 new stations with 105m long side platforms and 2 new middle-section Ventilation Shafts.

It is planned to create a second west hall, complementary to the current one from Cais do Sodré Station with a new link between the ML platform in the west area of the current station and the 3 CP railway platforms. This extension includes the remodelling of the current Ventilation Shaft, which is at the end of the Rato Terminal, that will undergo adaptations inside to guarantee access to the new tunnel as well.  It is also planned to connect the lines to the North, in Campo Grande, with the creation of 2 new connection sections between the existing viaducts, which will allow the ring connection of the Green Line coming from Alvalade with the section of the Cidade Universitária of the Yellow Line, and also a connection between the Telheiras and Quinta das Conchas Stations of the current Yellow Line. This solution to connect the two Yellow and Green Lines will allow the ring closure, which will become a circular line, in order to improve mobility in the central area of the city of Lisbon.
