The 24 de Agosto, Heroísmo and S. Bento Stations are part of the Porto underground.
They were built by the cut-and-cover method in landfills, alluvial soils and in the formation of “Granites of Porto.”
The excavation wall systems included diaphram walls, Berlin type walls, anchored pile walls and shotcrete linings with nailings.
The 24 de Agosto station has an area of 2.000m2 and a maximum depth of excavation of 23m.
The Heroísmo station included a shaft and several tunnels in underground excavation. The shaft has an area of 1.000m2 and a height of 27m. The main body has a section of 181m2 and a length of 70m.
The S. Bento station has an area of 3.330m2 and a maximum depth excavation of 21m.
