The preparation of the Modernization Design for the railway section between Mangualde / Guarda, Beira Alta Railway Line, begins at PK 129,790 and ends at PK 202,970, with a length of approximately 73 km.
The studies include the drawing up of the design, with a view to eliminate the capacity constraints at the infrastructure level, the adjustment of Stations that will allow trains cross with 750 m long and will ensure the interoperability to the Trans-European transport network.
These works are part of the Modernisation Project of Beira Alta Railway Line between Pampilhosa and Vilar Formoso (Border), to strengthen the railway link between the Portuguese northern and central regions and Europe, in order to enable an efficient rail freight transport, enhancing competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
