Pinhão Dam - Environmental Impact Study

TheEnvironmental impact study included: 1)-the characterization of the currentstate of the environment in order to identify and limit sensitive areas, whichcould make the execution of various works; 2)-identification, prediction andassessment of impacts on the environment, caused, directly or indirectly, forthe construction and operation of the leveraging; 3)-the definition ofmitigating measures of negative impacts generated and possible measures ofpositive impacts; and 4)-a description of a monitoring plan to implement in thearea. 

TheExecution Project Environmental Conformity Report has shown that the finaldesign met all environmental requirements required by the Ministry of the Environmentat the stage of approval of the Project that had been developed at the level ofPrevious Study. 

The dam,whose reservoir has as its main use the urban supply of different places of thedistricts of Vila Real, Alijó, Peso da Regua and Sabrosa, has a crown with 330m of development and its maximum height is 22 m. The flooded area is 51 ha,allowing a total storage of 2.8 hm3.
